Best Ergonomic Stands For Mac Owners

Laptop stands let your machine breathe more easily, making it less likely to suffer from thermal throttling. A lot of stands use conductive materials that draw heat away from the laptop, which will make it more efficient too. And if your laptop is still too hot to handle you can opt for a powered laptop stand with built-in cooling fans. If cooling capabilities are high on your priority list, you'll want to take a look at our rundown of the best laptop cooling pads.

Best Ergonomic Stands For Mac Owners

As many of us spend more time with our computers, you may find more conventional mouse designs uncomfortable at the end of long workdays or gaming sessions. Thankfully, there are an increasing number of mouse designs with sculpted shapes, thumb rests, and other ergonomic elements. These elements can help contribute to a more comfortable experience. The following mice are a selection of the best of these designs focusing on ergonomic compatibility, button reachability, and comfort.

We've tested over 275 mice, and below are our top picks for the best ergonomic options. For other recommendations, be sure to check out our picks for the best wireless mice, the best mice, and the best wired mice.

The best ergonomic mouse we've tested is the Logitech MX Master 3S. It's the latest entry in Logitech's MX Master lineup and shares the same sculpted, right-handed shape as other entries in the series. Its body is made of solid plastic with a soft-touch texture and feels very sturdily built. However, it's on the larger side and is most comfortable for medium-sized or larger hands. You can press its large thumb rest section to enable gesture controls, and its primary scroll wheel unlocks automatically for faster free-scrolling, making scrolling quickly through a long document or website less strenuous. There's also a side-mounted scroll wheel within reach of your thumb that you can use to scroll horizontally, which is helpful if you deal with spreadsheets or timelines. This mouse connects wirelessly with its USB receiver or via Bluetooth and pairs with up to three devices simultaneously.

The best ergonomic gaming mouse we've tested is the Razer Basilisk V3. It has a right-handed shape with a thumb rest that provides more ergonomic support than typical gaming mice. Also, while many gaming mice have only two side buttons, this one has three. As an added feature, its wheel has L/R tilt inputs and a free-scrolling mode that you can toggle to automatically enable when you scroll to a certain speed, like some of the more work-oriented picks on this list. Using the companion software, you can reprogram any of the buttons, make sensor adjustments, and customize the RGB lighting.

This mouse connects wirelessly using its USB receiver or via Bluetooth. It has an advertised battery life of up to four months, and you can pair up to two devices simultaneously. The scroll wheel has tilt buttons, but it doesn't unlock for a quicker free-scrolling mode like other options on this list. Using the customization software, you can reprogram buttons to best suit your needs. If you're interested in a more affordable alternative, consider the Logitech ERGO M575. It has the same ergonomic shape; however, it doesn't include a tilt base, doesn't support multi-device connectivity, and feels cheaper overall.

Our recommendations above are what we think are currently the best vertical mouse and overall best ergonomic mice for most people. We factor in the price (a cheaper mouse wins over a pricier one if the difference isn't worth it), feedback from our visitors, and availability (no mice that are difficult to find or almost out of stock everywhere).

There are two integral reasons to consider when choosing a monitor stand for your desk: additional height and optimized space. Working in a messy space can make work even more stressful than it has to be, and we all know the trials and tribulations of cranking your neck down to get some work done. So, to help make your computer user-friendlier, we picked the ten best monitor stands for enhanced ergonomics.

That said, this is easily one of the best monitors for MacBook Pro owners seeking an external display. The Apple Studio display pairs really well with Apple's new desktop, so check out our Mac Studio review. I'd buy the Studio Display for myself if I was looking to build a MacBook-centric workspace; read on to see why.

The Studio Display is a great monitor, one that delivers a lot of the value of Apple's $5,000 Pro Display XDR in a much more affordable package. With its excellent camera, fantastic speaker setup and gorgeous 27-inch 5K screen, this is easily one of the best monitors for MacBook Pro owners seeking an external display.

Business monitors usually offer ergonomic stands that can be adjusted for maximum comfort. Often, they'll offer pivot adjustability, which lets you rotate the screen 90 degrees for viewing in portrait mode. Look for a monitor with an auto-rotate feature that flips the image for you when you change the orientation. Other business-centric features include a generous (three- or four-year) warranty with an overnight exchange service, built-in USB ports, and an aggressive recycling program.

A desk stand can be really useful for pre-M1 MacBook models, which get hot easily. It helps with ventilation, thus preventing them from overheating. For options, check out our roundup of the best MacBook stands.

Since 2002, I have bought and used a lot of tablets in an attempt to build the best setup I could. This was necessary for my comfort; I was doing digital painting all day. Nowaday, my quest for the best tablet continues, as the technology keeps evolving year after year. If you want to read more about what I've used and why, read my maintained "Tablet history log" article, from 2002 to today. But beyond the choice of the hardware itself, I've also studied other aspects of my setup. The first aspect that comes to mind is the ergonomics of my desktop position. So, let me share my experiences on ergonomics with you.

jjackle 22 june 2010, 21:30 - Reply Good article. Youve figured out the same/best ergonomic layout that I am using. But the height of the work surface and your seated height are also important. That third dimension can be as helpfull or painful as side-to-side travel. I have always found it interesting what each artist uses, what his studio looks like, and thier inspirations.I just got into digital painting after years of vecter-based art. I needed to pick a program for paintng my cartoons. After all freeware and some trials from main-line programs, I like to do the Inkscape-MyPaint mix. I've not done that much with Gimp yet. But i love that all of these programs integrate well.TTYL

Artox 04 december 2014, 10:42 - Reply Hi,I was searching the net for solutions pertaining to the use of the Surface Pro, when I happened to find your post on ergonomic solutions to using a keyboard+tablet+mouse. I have found an awesome solution for myself and thing other people can also benefit. Here is the combo:- Wacom Intuos 4 Medium- Logitech G13 gaming keyboard, which is small enough to sit next to your tablet and not ruin ergonomics (fully programmable and much faster than using the Wacom built-in wheel and buttons)- TrackMan Marble FX or another trackball to your liking (what you can find, they are really scarce these days, the M570 should be fine for most people) This is the best combo ergonomically for me, you can rest one hand on the tablet and the other on the G13 and have the full power of using all shortcuts in Photoshop or other software.

After evaluating 30 of the most popular stands on the market today, we came up with a list of the seven of the best keyboard risers, with the Richboom Clear Computer Keyboard Holder emerging as our top choice. The lightweight and durable stand is designed with an incline, low front lips, and an anti-slip feature that facilitates relaxed and stable keyboard usage.

We also picked table stands that help promote the right typing posture. A good stand would allow you to have your wrists slightly raised while you type, so you can avoid putting pressure on your tendons. These operate just like some of the best ergonomic keyboards do.

Choosing the right standing desk is vital for your productivity and workplace comfort. Often referred to as sit-stand desks or stand-up desks, they improve office ergonomics while encouraging good posture and movement.
